Hippo Loaf

July 15, 2008

I have been working on Greg for the last few days.  The surgery on his legs were a success and the dowels matched up well.  I am happy with the way the felt is coming along but it is rather time consuming.  But it is what I must do.  I am loading my final kiln tomorrow to bisque everything.  Then it is paint, paint, paint, and all of the room temperature glazing I can handle until Sunday.  The cards were all sent out today.  They turned out really nice.  They also printed these larger posters that are pretty slick.  All things considered I am still kickin and getting some sleep.  We will see how that comes along later in the week.

Here is some of Deborah’s greenware…

Here is the brick wall for the graffiti snails ( they leave paint trails instead of slim trails), Greg in the mix, and a Hippo I am drying in the oven.  He will be yelling into the big brass trumpet shape I found at the flea market.

Tyler- Finally, I am back on the band wagon. I had a very crazy, busy week last week. I have been feeling very guilty that I have not responded to your blog. I am checking this off my list, along with mowing the back yard (the ditch really kicks my butt)and watering / fertilizing my flowers out front. Tomorrow it is brushing out Allie and giving her a bath. I think your hippo looks awesome, what is it’s name? I thought maybe Harriet for a girl or Horrace for a boy. The snail idea, does that come from your science project in school? Remember when Aunt Rita from Texas overnighted the butter tub of snails you needed for your project. Greg is looking good, are you using special scissors to cut his spots? You can tell I am back in true Mom form, asking so many questions. Am I up to twenty yet?? I don’t think so, so I will ask some more!!! I am still not used to Dad being gone during the week. David and Russell went with Dad this time, so I am sure Dad is glad to have them both there. His mind is so filled with this job, it’s hard for him not to continue to talk about it on the weekend. Plus he had appointments set up to check on stuff when he was back home this past weekend. I am trying to be understanding, but at times I have to tell him he is home to see me and Allie, not to dwell on the job. I think it is a big challenge for him but at the same time, it is a very big mess he has to straighten out. Well I had better sign off for now, I am sure you are ready to get some sleep. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of your work. Keep up the great job……a big hug & kiss, and lots of love, Mom 🙂

Ty – Greg is coming along nicely. The felt that you are adding looks great. I love the hippo. It reminds me of me – big mouth, wide hips. 🙂 I can’t wait to see the finished products. Try to get a little shut eye.
